Another Gore gaffe -- in recent presentations, he had been showing a startling graph which showed a ceiling-high spike in disasters in recent years. Gore, of course, said the disasters were due to man-made global warming.

The data came from the Center for Research on the Epidemiology of Disasters (CRED). Just one problem.... the Center had stated in reports that many factors which were unrelated to climate caused the enormous rise in reported disasters.

Gore has pulled the graph from his presentation.

Quote:
Dr. Pielke quoted the Belgian center: “Indeed, justifying the upward trend in hydro-meteorological disaster occurrence and impacts essentially
through climate change would be misleading. Climate change is probably an actor in this increase but not the major one — even if its impact on the
figures will likely become more evident in the future.” http://www.cred.be/documents/Gore_Pulls_Slide_of_Disaste.pdf
Gore says in his clip
Quote:
“This is creating weather-related disasters that are completely unprecedented." he said. http://dotearth.blogs.nytimes.com/20...s/?ref=science
A clip of the graph can be found on youtube at the 7th minute of Gore's talk. A link to it can be found at Gore Pulls Slide of Disaster Trends - Dot Earth Blog - NYTimes.com
