I'm still trying to figure out how 9/11 was the repub's fault?

Hmmmm.....let's see. $40,000 per year for a LIFE sentence versus hundreds of thousands for ONE execution. Hmmmm. That's a loser arguement in support of the death penalty......EXECUTIONS are a very expensive luxury for society.

You know, I think I had this discussion with someone else a long time ago..some poster on another board with a screen name like timmy or something like that...the $40,000 figure "rings a bell." Wasn't that $40,000 per year in Florida for each inmate?

Have you researched the costs related to executing someone? Hmmm. I don't think so................also you clearly have not researched information regarding whether or not the death penalty "inhibits" someone from killing. Guess you haven't thought about all the states which DO NOT HAVE A DEATH PENALTY, have you?

Probably due to some mischief by Diebold.

I'm certain they meant to.

Goodness, the out and out "hostility" between the left and right in this country is at alarming levels.

Trust me, it was a landslide. The GOP still are having problems coping with that fact. They are close to becoming a Regional Party with Regional Ideologies they are currently a Party of irrelevance with little to offer our great nation.

Does that mean Bush the elder won in a landslide in 1988?

Compare:

1988
---------------------- Bush------ Dukakis
Electoral votes-------- 426------- 111
Percent of vote------- 53.4%----- 45.6%

2008
---------------------- Obama---- McCain
Electoral votes-------- 365------- 173
Percent of vote------- 52.92%---- 45.66%

Now, if you want to talk about an actual landslide...

1984
---------------------- Reagan---- Mondale
Electoral votes-------- 525------- 13
Percent of vote------- 58.8%----- 40.6%

I think I'll trust the actual statistics rather than you. No offense.

Yeah, it wasn't even a landslide... I might say getting >55% is a landslide, but not 52%. And saying that it was one of the biggest landslides... laughable... Read the history before you post.

Yes, Obama did have a solid win, but not quite a landslide. Of course, most Democrats will call it a landslide anyway.

I'm a Democrat and do not agree that it was a landslide, but the margin was a good one.
