Actually, it was the other way around. Letterman has nothing to lose and got a ton of applause while going head to head with O'Reilly. You can still catch it on u-tube.!
That makes sense. The people that went to see Letterman, in HIS audience, applauded him. I saw it, at one point Letterman thought he had him, O'Reilly came back and Letterman had no idea what to say.
