House Passes Obama's $3.5 Trillion Spending Plan

Party-Line Vote Permits Work to Begin on President's Key Agenda Items

By Lori Montgomery
Washington Post Staff Writer
Thursday, April 2, 2009; 7:23 PM

Congressional Democrats overwhelmingly embraced President Obama's ambitious and expensive agenda for the nation this evening, endorsing a $3.5 trillion spending plan that sets the stage for the president to pursue his most far-reaching priorities.
The House voted 233 to 196, along party lines, to approve a streamlined version of Obama's budget request that would trim his spending proposals for the fiscal year that begins in October and curtail his plans to cut taxes. But it would permit work to begin on the central issues of Obama's presidency: an expansion of health care coverage for the uninsured, more money for college loans and a cap-and-trade system to reduce gases that contribute to global warming.

Sounds good. Now the battle in the Senate begins. Would love to see Al Franken sworn in for that happy frolic.

Isn't it amazing that we have been hearing for ages that we cannot afford to give Social Security to all those people who have been paying in for years, but we can afford to pay the mortgage for people who have probably never paid much of anything into our national treasury.

Right is right and wrong is wrong. Our government is cheating many of its citizens. I don't think a government like this will succeed.

I don't like having my hard earned money taxed to pay for snuffing out the life of a child. I don't like to have my hard earned money taxed to send money overseas to murder babies there too. With all the birth control available to any one who wants it, there should be no reason for abortions.

It is time to stop wasting the taxpayers money and start having more responsible government. Congress I am talking to you. From what I am seeing about the April 15 tea parties, so are many more Americans. News people why are you not reporting this? It is news. I only hear about it online.

Oh that should be easy...30% to JPMorgan, 30% to Goldman Sachs, 30% to AIG and 10% to the automakers-whoever is left.

Yeah..isn't it just amazing what the MSM considers newsworthy these days ?
It's a good thing we have the internet or no one would know about these "tea parties". All we hear on the MSM seems to be filtered news..same thing on all channels.
