Can it ever be the reputable force it once was again? I contend that liberal or conservative, no one can honestly trust the media now. What do you think?

I trust the media. I don't trust that I'll get unbiased reporting, but I trust that what I'm hearing from them is generally what they honestly believe to be true.

I just know going into it that if I watch Fox, I'll be bombarded with right-wing anti-Obama rhetoric and socialist propaganda, and I know that if I watch CNN and/or MSNBC, I'll get left-wing, progressive-thinking, Obama-loving journalists whom I happen to agree with more often than not.

I don't trust that the media is unbiased. I know that they're biased. It's not exactly a secret. I do trust that the folks at MSNBC aren't intentionally lying to me, though. I've never seen any evidence of that. I rather think many of the journalists at MSNBC and CNN are intelligent and articulate individuals who like to speak their minds. And they just happen to lean left. Nothing wrong with that.

Only when Americans figure out the difference between Opinions, Editorials, Commentary, Entertainment and Reporting a Story, (no matter where it leads).......real News, created by reporters, read by newsreaders.

You do have a good point. I had that attitude for a while, but couldn't shake the feeling that I was wasting my time on a bunch of propagandists. MSNBC promotes Obama, and Fox promotes the right. It's both propaganda. The only show I like is Morning Joe. I feel I get both sides and it's a pleasant change from Hannity and Olbermann. Although between the two, MSNBC has a more "news-like" (and therefore intelligent) feel than tabloid Fox.

Aside from that I go to the global media for my news. BBC, CBC, London Times, Financial Times, etc...

The media exists to sell itself. I admit that I watch my more liberal-leaning commentators for entertainment, but for information I go to op-eds, whether on the left, right, center, libertarian, or anything else. I find I get a better balance from those than from tv anchors or news editors trying to maintain a pretense of objectivity and selling total garbage.

In TV & Radio, the whole purpose is to get you to the next commercial. News is second fiddle.

Like Mack, I go outside the US to get the real news.
US news has sunk to tabloid status. There is no good US news reporters anymore.
