NEW YORK – Kate Harding has spent most of her life on one diet or another, losing weight but always gaining it back. Determined to improve her quality of life, she joined a fast-growing group of anti-dieting activists promoting overweight people's civil rights.

I am someone who is in the midst of a major weight loss...total goal was originally to lose 53 lbs. I'm down about 22 right now and thinking
a 35 lb. loss might be more realistic & attainable, and still result in a healthy appearance.

And I have participated in some heated threads regarding how heavy people are treated.

Even so, I don't know how far this matter should go or could go to become termed a 'civil rights issue'. The article was really good; kudos to Harding
for her passion on this. I just don't think it will get any legs. Better for us heavy people to suck it up and keep fighting our personal demons.
Society (IMO) is too embroiled in all the other crap it's dealing with to throw one more issue into the mix.

Hey....., is this one of those threads where we're s'posed to make quips & puns about the article?
