Good point. Too many people use Sodom and Gomorrah as an extension of their anti-gay beliefs. As if Gay rights are a sign of the end of days. It is misused however. Sodomy did not come to mean anything remotely gay until the 1600's or something like that. Well after the Bible was written. Wasn't the city supposedly destroyed because of the inhabitant's lack of hospitality to outsiders? Not because them gay fellers was getting busy.

Precisely. The crime of those cities wasn't sodomy per se, but their shocking lack of hospitality. It is interesting, therefore, that most of the same folks who get all worked up about gays having too many rights also foam at the mouth about immigrants.

perhaps by just posting I think our country is being ruined by all the bad morals I see and it would be great if we all found god and did the right moral thing would be a better way to start a post than by trying to suggest a bible story to say what has you peeved about the world. come on out and say it don't beat around the bush. I may not live like you, have your values nor do a ton of people in my country I can tell you we are not headed for the end times because of it.

Well, my girlfriend did look back at the destruction of the Mapes Hotel. She didn't turn to stone, but she was stoned. Does that count?

I'll play the opposite card.

I think religion ruined our country.
May no god bless us because that doesn't mean anything

Oh yah, he posed a question here didn't he? He isn't making a statement at all eh? Not at all trying to put a negative connotation on homosexuality by linking it to poorly understood biblical text eh? Some people indeed.
Still don't get the hate part... The Bible I read doesn't condone hate toward anyone, God hates sin, not the sinner. Just like the parent hates the cancer that is killing their child but loves the child... Christ died for all of us, if you don't accept it, that is your right and you can spend eternity where ever you please.

In terms of what the OP is referencing, gay marriage getting legalized in another state, homosexuality played no part in Sodom and Gomorrah's destruction.
