More Americans “Pro-Life” Than “Pro-Choice” for First Time

Quote:
PRINCETON, NJ -- A new Gallup Poll, conducted May 7-10, finds 51% of Americans calling themselves "pro-life" on the issue of abortion and 42% "pro-choice." This is the first time a majority of U.S. adults have identified themselves as pro-life since Gallup began asking this question in 1995.

Some of those charts are very interesting.

It's only a matter of time before a liberal comes in and declares that Gallup is no longer a reliable polling institution. These results simply don't fit their pro-abortion stance.

Well someone can be pro life but not necessarily want to make it harder or illegal to obtain an abortion.
I know people who are "pro life" but don't want to put a bunch of limits on abortion or make it illegal to obtain one.

Actually, the figures show less support for abortion in "any" and "certain" circumstances and more support for illegal in "all".

I think this is due to technology. When Roe V Wade was new who really knew what a fetus looked like? Outside of the medical community, I mean. And then too, viability was what - maybe 30 weeks? Now it is as low as 20 and there has been instances of survival at 19 weeks.

Most people do not like the idea of abortion, and certainly not abortion in the later stages of pregnancy. I don't see Roe V Wade ever being repealed though. I do see a time when late term abortions are more regulated if not out and out not allowed.

can that be tied to a more religious, ethnic, newly "citizen-ized" population?

an article in the LA times this past week spoke about the changing political landscape in CA, due largely in part to asians and hispanics increasing in voting numbers.

might be a correlation.

Cool... then maybe they will work to make abortion rarer by making adoption easier and increasing sex education. I think the big, big issue is 3rd trimester abortions... I'm staunchly pro-choice but I think late-term abortions should be illegal except in instances of rape, incest or health of the mother. That's why you have folks gravitating to pro-life... because people despise the idea of a late-term abortion upon demand. I think it's outrageous.

Different issue, but I know it all blurs together for you bots.

All of it is irrelevant, right?
