1) Are any of you like me in that you do not understand how Americans could possibly allow an incompetent inexperienced socialist marionette destroy every enterprise we have held dear for two centuries?

2) Does it seem like he's getting it done without even a whimper?

3) Does it seem like so many are nonchalant about Obama taking away freedoms we may never enjoy again? Such as the best healthcare system in the world?

4) Are you amazed that Republicans have forgotten the formula that always wins elections and always fixes the economy? That is, cutting spending and taxes?

5) Are you surprised the mainstream media has abandoned all pretenses of fairness --even for them-- to support this circus clown as he destroys our nation?

I refuse to believe America will turn into Europe. Think about it. The people who comprise the United States descended from people who had the gumption to move here from another country to seek a better life. Surely, that same drive and initiative will prevent them from allowing Obama to take away their way of living.

Or maybe most people ARE up in arms, but the MSM is squelching it to make it appear the manchild is loved and his programs are popular.

SURELY, these enterprising people will derail this idiot in 2010 by electing conservative Congressmen to stop him.

We haven't had that for some time. There are alternatives to universal health care but they would be even more politically controversial.

Bill Clinton was a Republican?

The problem with this scenario is that the old conservatism is dying, a new conservatism is still trying to emerge, and a Republican Congress is within recent memory, unlike in 1994. The GOP has some sorting out and restructuring to do - I think it will come back, and my guess is 2014. It's in the same condition the Dems were in back in the early '80s, attached to political icons of the past who no longer carry much weight (instead of "a return to FDR" with Mondale, it's "a return to Reagan" with Romney), filled with extremists, and in need of some obvious soul searching. Ideological purity doesn't win presidential elections ; it has just the opposite effect.

As for what the next conservatism will look like, Ron Paul's campaign in 2008 might provide some clues. Gary Johnson or even Mark Sanford may take up Paul's mantle. Perhaps the next conservatism will favor things that Obama's too chicken to go through with at this point - e.g. marijuana legalization and gay marriage combined with a message of fiscal responsibility. (This is not barring the possibility that if the states act first the POTUS will be forced to do something.) It's still too early to tell.

This goes right along with the thread I started where I learned that socialism is not really socialism. That Obama Thugocracy is OK as long as they don't go after any rich leftist (can't call them liberals anymore). And that Obama can do no wrong, we should all just keep drinking the kool-aid, it will be alright, the government will take care of everything.....

The whimpers will be screams, since the socialism wave is inundating everything. At this point, too many millions are convinced that they are going to receive more benefits than they pay in (the infamous lottery mindset). Eventually, the realization will hit that this is impossible.

Sorry to break it to you, but the United States has always been partially socialist since Social Security and Medicare/Medicaid have been around. What exactly has he done to "destroy every enterprise we have held dear for two centuries?" Some may be suprised that Obama ordered the resignation of Chrysler's board and GM's CEO, but if we're giving taxpayers money to these companies, I think all should be done to get them to profitability so they can repay the loans.

He's getting it done because he's not playing games, as did people in the past. You can disagree with his policies, but you have to agree he's getting his agenda through quickly. His agenda isn't about changing the US to a Socialist country; his agenda is getting America back on its feetm and back to the top. Some disagree with his excessive spending, but then fail to note the $10 billion we spend monthly in Iraq. If we ended the was, thats $120 billion saved yearly, just like that.

I'm sorry, but I really don't understand how we have the best healthcare system in the world. Do you mean it's the best because we have a choice to decide if we want healthcare or not? As you probably know, the recession has taken it's toll on hospitals and healthcare workers around the country. As many skip health insurance and get expensive surgeries with no money to pay them, hospitals have to lay off workers, which strains the overall hospital (in some extreme cases, it may lead to hospital closures). Mandatory healthcare would mean higher taxes for the American citizen, but it would also mean more stability in the healthcare system as well as guaranteed money for operations.

That formula would do no justice in this economic climate. Cutting spending would really make things worse, especially in federal student loans, food stamps, etc. Not only would it mean more layoffs, but it would make it harder for those who are already laid off. Cutting taxes wouldn't do any good either, as that would mean lower government revenue.

The mainstream media has never really been fair, as it reflects the views of the American public as a whole. If it didn't, they wouldn't get ratings.

What way of living is he taking away? Right to bear arms? Right to drive a gas guzzling SUV? We have all of the rights we had before he was elected. Also, it seems the majority of people are happy with Obama's job thus far, or else his ratings would not be so high.

As for your last part, I guess we'll just have to wait until 2010 to see if your theory is true.
