I wonder if this too was a result of the sequester. Someone get Harry Reid on the phone. We need answers!

A Navy SEAL from the elite SEAL TEAM 6 was killed and another SEAL injured Thursday night during a parachute training accident in Marana, Arizona, the military said. Details of the accident are not immediately available.

One SEAL was pronounced dead on arrival at the University of Arizona Hospital. The second remains hospitalized in stable condition.

Members of SEAL TEAM 6 carried out the raid that killed Osama Bin Laden. All SEAL teams receive extensive parachute training, which is often required for hostage rescue or anti-terrorist operations.

This never would've made the news even five years ago. I hope the increased scrutiny/fame magnifying glass these guys are under nowadays doesn't detract from their operational capability.

I find it odd that we've been losing so many of these elite soldiers lately.

This is most troubling and the Seals always practice safety. Obama's dead pool of Seals grows. Let's see, we lost how many on the chopper a while back after Biden spilled the beans which team got Osama? And then we had a few more killed. I've lost official count but this is unprecedented to have under one president so many elite Seals, especially from Team 6 to get killed.

If I have it right, havent we lost over 20 members of Seal Team 6 since killing Bin Laden? If that is true, I have to say I find that a bit odd. Not trying to scream conspiracy but just strange is all.

This group is so secret, they don't even acknowledge their existence, or they didn't before Obama.

Team 6 poached the top operatives from other SEAL units and trained them even more intensely from there. Even among proven SEALs the attrition rate for Team 6 is reported to be nearly half.
There are no names available for current Team 6 members, but the CIA does recruit heavily from their numbers for their Special Operations Group, so it makes sense that they were chosen to work with the CIA on this mission.
Team 6 is normally devoted to missions with maritime authority: ship rescues, oil rigs, naval bases or land bases accessible by water. There are no waterways near Bin Laden's compound.
When a former Navy SEAL was called for a comment about this article all he could say was: "You know I'd love to help you man, but I can't say a word about Team 6. There is no Team 6."

Didn't a member of the group who killed Bin Laden write a book about what happened? That's not very secretive about "Team 6."
