Why should anything change? We have been supporting Israel for decades. This is one example of foreign aid I'm all for.
You are talking about military intervention. Takes money, which would cost more than we are giving now. Would you be willing to pay higher taxes to cover the additional costs or at least join the military instead.
I seriously, seriously doubt Israel will get slaughtered in a ground war, not unless all the differing factions within the ME get their crap all in one pile. Six-Day War tell you anything?

The 2006 Lebanon War ring a bell? You know the conflict where Hezbollah were using modern anti-tank infantry missiles from Russia and pretty much waxed a bunch of their main Merkava battle tanks?
No they didn't whoop Israel, but they showed the Israeli's that with modern armaments, the battlefield outside of Gaza or the West Bank is no cake walk.

I would tend to agree with this. Obama's speech in Cario made several shots across the Iranian bow. While open to talks with them in hopes of separating extremist from moderates, the language was clear as to the US position concerning Israel.

Israel was constrained by the civilian population. They were not "unleashed" as they would be if attacked or invaded. It would be a civilian tragedy on both sides.
If Israel truly wanted to wipe Hamas or Hezbollah from the map, they could very easily, but the civilian casualties would be tremendous. If they are attacked, the gloves truly come off.
