Dr. Nils-Axel Mörner has studied sea level and its effects on coastal areas for some 35 years. Recently retired as director of the Paleogeophysics and Geodynamics Department at Stockholm University, Mörner is past
president (1999-2003) of the INQUA Commission on Sea Level Changes and Coastal Evolution, and leader of the Maldives Sea Level Project.
Mörner was interviewed by Associate Editor Gregory Murphy on June 6. The interview here is abridged; a full version appeared in Executive Intelligence Review, June 22, 2007.

Prove anything you just said.

97% of climatologists believe in man-made global warming
(CNN) -- Human-induced global warming is real, according to a recent U.S. survey based on the opinions of 3,146 scientists. However there remains divisions between climatologists and scientists from other areas of earth sciences as to the extent of human responsibility.

A survey of more than 3,000 scientists found that the vast majority believe humans cause global warming.

Against a backdrop of harsh winter weather across much of North America and Europe, the concept of rising global temperatures might seem incongruous.

However the results of the investigation conducted at the end of 2008 reveal that vast majority of the Earth scientists surveyed agree that in the past 200-plus years, mean global temperatures have been rising and that human activity is a significant contributing factor in changing mean global temperatures.

The study released today was conducted by academics from the University of Illinois, who used an online questionnaire of nine questions. The scientists approached were listed in the 2007 edition of the American Geological Institute's Directory of Geoscience Departments.

Two questions were key: Have mean global temperatures risen compared to pre-1800s levels, and has human activity been a significant factor in changing mean global temperatures?

About 90 percent of the scientists agreed with the first question and 82 percent the second.

The strongest consensus on the causes of global warming came from climatologists who are active in climate research, with 97 percent agreeing humans play a role.

Ben Lieberman, a senior policy analyst in energy and environment for The Heritage Foundation, later said that was not true: “There are no tangible problems from climate change.” He added that real problems arise from incorrectly linking natural events to the very slight increase in average global temperature—problems such as additional cost to taxpayers from unnecessary climate change reform.

The Heritage Foundation incase you didn't know is a Conservative Think where a lot of your Conservative Talking Points stem from. Oh yes, they are pro corporation/business.

Ben Lieberman is a LAWYER with no energy or environmental education whatsoever who used to work for an organization dedicated to making government smaller. His credibility on this issue is simply NIL.

To be qualified to talk about global warming, one must first have a background in science and energy...not working as a Lawyer and Lobbyist.
The lawyer / politician was doing what they do - asking questions. As in "What is the catastrophe?" The so called professionals on the topic were unable to give a straight answer other than the one who spoke up and said that the only catastrophe would be unnecessary legislation leading to additional tax burdens.... That must be some strong kool-aid the lefty's are drinking.....

It's amazing how any of you people who somehow disagrees WITH SCIENCE considers anyone with half a brain to be a "lefty".

I'm a registered Republican, a Navy Vet and someone who has never voted for a Democrat. I didn't support Gore, but he was echoing the words of SCEINTISTS, not lobbyists from a conservative think tank.

You may have differing ideas on what we should do when the sea levels rise, but to actually deny what has already begun to happen just shows how stupid you are. Seriously, being educated about a subject is what brings credibility, not having some baseless opinion.

Considering that some countries have already faced sea-level rise, you have to be an idiot to deny it.

The so-called scientist that Al Gore based his position on has already had to retract at least three of the statements that went in to that movie. Doesn't matter though because Al had already got his cut while continuing to fly around in private jets.

I don't disagree that the world is changing. I disagree that we humans are the biggest contributor and that tax increasing policies will solve the problem while the politicians such as Gore continue to make outrageous profits on so-called "green" technology.
