The family of Marcellus Perry is suing Chicago police in federal court. On June 11, 2009, Marcellus Perry was shot and killed by a Chicago police officer. There was no weapon or drugs found in his possession. "He was merely running from the police and posed no threat to them or the public," says police misconduct lawyer, Blake Horwitz.
You know, there's a lot of good cops out there but there's also a lot of bad ones. Almost everyday you read a story of a bad one now. These controversial stories need to be investigated by an outside source, possibly by the FBI to ensure fairness. Having the department involved doing the investigation just screams of conflict of interest. They'll not only protect their brother but they'll protect the city from a lawsuit.
