Perhaps they should have asked a more specific question.

Exactly. The majority of people are not executive material. So when you ask the majority of people if someone who makes more than they do is overpaid, you get the desired response. Duh. Ask a non UAW worker if UAW workers are overpaid, guess what reponse you get.

Hard to get the point when you guys keep changing it as you see fit to suit yourselves. Why don't you show us where in the constitution it says that government has not the right.

This is to deny that we or anyone else even is a society. This is to create in corporations a class that is above any law and exempt from any obligation to the society that supports it. It is selfish irresponsibility taken to an extreme.

All societies have rules, and all societies have interests. Governments exist to enforce those rules and to protect those interests. In the current case, the government does not act out of contempt or animus for either CEO's or stockholders, but out of recognition of the need to preserve, protect, and defend the interests of those millions of individuals and businesses who depend critically upon the availability of credit in the case of banks, or who would suddenly be all without jobs or any business to pursue in the case of the auto companies.

No one sees such intervention as has been necessary as any long-term shift in economic paradigm. Everyone sees such caretaker actions as being the only thing that can make possible the successful transition of these crippled institutions from their current state of inoperability back to a state of general economic health that they once enjoyed. It is in society's interests to have an efficiently functioning credit and financial system. In fact, it is a necessity. It is not a necessity to have an automobile industry, but if we are to lose the one we have, it is sufficiently in society's interest to make it a necessity that the wind-down of that industry be as snooth and orderly as it can be and not come as some total collapse that wreaks further havoc on an already weakened economy.

Incontinent blather about socialism is a waste of everybody's time. Corporations are not divine, holy, or sacrosanct institutions that lie above or beyond the exigent reach of the societies that support them. The point that you claim others to be missing is entirely without merit or standing.
