Following the events of Governor Mark Sanford, honestly, I feel bad for him, terrible in fact. I feel sorry for all those involved.

But, I feel worse for all Americans. We are all lost in twisted logic. Let me explain.

One of the most abominable sins in all of moral history is homosexuality. The broad American public at large however, is asked to except this at large. One of the hottest political subjects and arguments today is that of the gay rights, and gay marriages. Something that throughout the world’s history has been known to be horrid and twisted. Uch!

Unfortunately, Governor Sanford succumbed to a hearts desire. Is it wrong? Yes! Is it normal….. Well far more normal then two men living together.

Now if Americans can quietly digest the disgust and filth of public homosexuality, why can the governor not be understood and forgiven.

Or am I missing something? Is it that he was not caught with another man.

May G-D forgive us all.

If you have never known a couple who took vows and kept their committment for decades, I feel sorry for you.

If you cannot understand that homosexuals did not choose their sexual orientation but are merely who they are, and that they should have equal rights and protections as any citizen does, and that the right to marry should be provided for under the "...pursuit of happiness." clause in the Constitution, I would suggest you fill in the gaps in your education.

If you don't understand the difference between a gay couple who have persevered through twenty years together leaning on each other and managed to emerge from the fires of life tempered instead of melted, and the multiple indiscretions of a straight man with a good and faithful wife and four beautiful children who turns his back on every blessing he has been given for a dalliance with another woman and then disgraces himself by spouting the details of his affair to the world and insists that he is not at fault because he couldn't help himself -

You probably wouldn't understand the answers to your questions anyway.

Have a good life, and may you learn to let others enjoy theirs.

^^ "pursuit of happiness" is from the Declaration of Independence, not the Constitution.

My bad. I knew that, too.

That's what happens when you post before you wake up.

What did he do wrong?

For starters;

1. Absent without leave from his job. To hear him tell it over the last few months he (and a few other R governors) are the only ones singlehandedly preventing the collapse of the US. Under that scenario he is the equivalent of a soldier during wartime. AWOL during wartime is punishable by death.

2. Lied to his constiuents, about his absence from his job of protecting them.

3. Lied to his staff.

4. Lied to his wife.

5. Apparently misused public funds. You know the public funds that he is so overly protective of.

6. Lied about his lies when he got back.

7. Has proven himself untrustworthy.

8. Is a self-righteous POS, who stood on the floor of the house and moralized over President Clinton and his sexual escapades and insisted that President Clinton should resign.

I've only listed 8, but I'm sure you'll have some moral justification for these too.

Well, let me see if I can explain it to you. Your opinion on homosexuality is not shared by most people. I understand that there are many who do share your opinion but its still just that - your opinoin.

So what is the difference between homosexuality and infidelity? It gets a little tricky here so I want you to pay attention.

Infidelity has a victim!

More often than not several victims. That's why you feel sorry for Sanford and his family.

Homosexuality had no victim!

I understand that you are not homosexual. Apparently you even find homosexuality disgusting. That's fine but there is still no victim. I also understand that I am not going to change your mind. I'm just trying to explain what the difference is.

For once I agree with golfgod.

The bottom line is that Sanford really want's out of the Governorship and want's a divorce from his wife. His political career is over.

His recent behavior is so bizarre there is no other answer.

Thank you, my friend. You nailed it. Maybe and just maybe he did nothing illegal. But what he did was way wrong!
