What in the world has happened to our society? We as a society have lost so much over the recent years. Common sense is lost and has now become "uncommon sense", our children are fat and lazy, We no longer have values, honor and trustworthiness. Everyone is only out for themselves anyway they can get it even if it means trampling your rights and freedoms. Somehow the nation has this kooky idea that America should be a socialist country. Somehow the even kookier idea came up that we have to apologize to the rest of the world for being America. What the heck has happened? My opinion is that our schools and universities have indoctrinated all of this into our youth. America is chaning for the worse and nobody realistic can argue that. We are going to be bankrupt, super high inflation and taxed to death. The dollar is not going to be worth anything in a few short years. We are ALL going to suffer if things are not moved away from our current path. Can't anyone else see all of this? Our nation is being divided by people who dislike America for what it stood for and why it was founded...I find this all very sad and sickening, "we the people" need to stop this path of destruction for America.

I've seen it and lamented it for several decades. We seeming have ceased being a civil society with a strength of common purpose and senses of history and tradition in all too many places.
Read The Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire. It's a good case study for what's happening here and will happen unless things change.

Oh, at first I thought this was simply a thread about people's attitudes. Then it went downhill into another rant about Obama again. How tired.

It may start an interesting discussion, but...
you don't define values, common sense, or honor.
We are not apologizing for being America.
The conservatives (many of whom are openly and proudly anti-intellectual) sure don't like universities or any institutions of higher education.

It is about people's attitudes. You make the point very well. I did not mention any names, I simply cited the obvious and it all has to do with how our society thinks these days. If Americans didn't spend so much time looking for a "free ride" by suing for every reason under the sun, crying racism to get what they want and buying things they couldn't afford we could spend time on coming up with creative solutions to our problems and working together to achieve them. I'm sorry, but I full heartedly believe the way we are currently going about it is not going to do anything but cause more damage.
