First off , some general numbers: http://www.usdebtclock.org/

Everytime I look at a debt clock there is another trillion or two on it, and I see one every couple of months. Obviously, this can't go on forever and the bad numbers keep soaring upward faster and faster.

So someone who says everything's OK, please give me a logical argument that America as it exists now has a future, besides the whole "go back to your bunker and shut up you crazy end-of-the-world conspiracy theorist" routine.

To me the eventual outcome is as obvious as it would be to a guy on the front of a speeding train that can see the end of the track ahead. But against all logic the conductor keeps shoveling coal into the boiler as fast as he can. So am I missing something here or is everyone ignoring the truth?

The libs will never admit any sort of thing because they actually want the govt. to take everything over, so according to them, everything is fine in rainbows and lollipops land.

The grown ups are here to clean up the mess made over the last eight years.

Incessant whining won't make you relevant again either.

The economy is in trouble but not for generation who caused this economic dilemma. It will be my daughter and her children who will be paying for the mistakes the baby boomers made.

The country is in trouble. Unfortunately, a lot of people are more interested in pointing fingers and blaming the opposition while ignoring the fact that both parties are responsible for the deficit.

Classic example of finger pointing.

Ah, but that makes sense! Also, if people have to take responsibility they have to stop whining while pointing fingers and do something...and that's hard. Let the weenies point the fingers where they will, and the responsible people will have to clean all of their messes.

What makes you think my generation will die off before we start paying the debt?

As a percentage of GDP, we were in greater debt following WWII. It didn't take two generations to pay it down to reasonable levels, so it's not necessarily true that our current debt will take generations to pay.

With the number of jobs being lost coupled together with salary decreases. its going to take a long time for the debt to be paid. After all what's the government going to do, tax the hell out of every aspect of our lives?
