CIRINCIONE: The Obama administration seems to have played North Korea just about right — largely ignoring them for the first eight months, not rewarding their bad behavior, not reacting to their provocative statements or actions and now after about two months of relatively quiet, moderate North Korean behavior and the involvement of China…you now send in a real power player to hopefully negotiate the release of the journalists…and help reset U.S.-North Korean relations, refreezing that nuclear program and if things work out we could see the beginning again of the dismantlement of that nuclear program.

Do you have to be so negative about something good? Oh, wait, it was done on Obama's watch!

BTW, here is a story from a non-liberal newspaper about this mess. Maybe, just maybe, you won't be calling these journalists stupid after you read this. But that is probably a pipe dream.

North Korea sentences two US journalists to 12 years in jail | World news | guardian.co.uk

(North Korea) said the pair had entered the country after crossing the river, along its north-east border with China. Other reports said the women had been arrested on the Chinese side by North Korean guards who objected to being filmed.

Do you already have all the details pertaining to just what it took to free these two ladies? If it was strictly the result if Slick Willy making an appearance and chatting with Lil' Kim, by all means please provide a source.

While its great that these ladies are on there way home, don't go making assumptions that we simply went over there and talked NK to releasing them.

They can use the event as a propaganda tool for their country (reports are that they are already offering a totally different version of events) and S Korea. They want attention and need to appear powerful enough to bring somebody like Clinton into the fold.

I think she's glad that two Americans are out of a communist prison. Unlike you.

Clinton in N.Korea is fitting, as it was himself and Albright who gave the n.koreans the lightwater reactors to create fissionable material which resulted in their nuclear armament. I would think the n.koreans owed Clinton at least one.
