Private insurances are going to make seniors pay out the nose for health care. The whole reason government is involved is because many require large amounts of prescriptions and medical intervention while not being able to pay much since they are no longer working. I don't like it for normal folks, but I think seniors need something to absorb the costs...private Medicare plans they touted already folded because of the costs, I doubt this plan will fare better.

I am interested how this fight will turn out, the tone for health care debate has already been set to lies and emotional propaganda.

There plan is to have private insurance companies take it over. Then some middle manager will decide when Grandma dies. I can see this now Grandma needs a bypass so they have to call Bob the pot head for permission. The more grandmas he kills the faster he gets promoted. Oh BTW there also going to kill off the disabled and children.
The Republicans do not have enough votes to order a pizza. Save your hysteria. But the Dems. have all the votes they need to pass any of the HC reforms. Why won't they?

that sounds a lot like medicare advantage plans. Medicare Advantage do not allow you access to specialists or expensive tests or lengthy skiiled nursing or home health care benefits. the public option (medicare, without HMO) is far less restrictive than medicare advantage (HMO). medicare advantage plans have been eager to take new members b/c of their higher reimbursement from the gov't and the ability to enroll healthy seniors who don't use much expenses. they are able to attract seniors b/c of their low costs for "commonly used" benefits. however, when you start using chemo, radiation, MRIs, you would see that they charge the same 20% OOP that Original Medicare (minus medigap supplement) would. at that point, a sickly person might be encouraged to disenroll from medicare advantage and shift over to Medicare + Medigap, where there would be 100% coverage with $0 OOP.

The old farts deserve this with all of their protesting and hypocrisy. They already have a wonderful public option avbl to them, but want to deny it to the rest of us.

These Medicare HMOs have been at the public trough for too long are in fact costing the American taxpayer roughly 14% more than it costs to provide comparable care to the same popul on traditional medicare:

The Republicans wrote and submitted the bill they must think they have a chance to pass it. I suggest they think they have a chance to kill grandma

There are two rival bills on health care. If the Republicans manage to kill the democrats bill then this one will come up for debate.
Also if the republicans are going to bring this bill to the public like they did this morning then the public should know what's in it.

It is the advantage that the Republicans are pushing. The difference is there will be no traditional medicare.

Unfortunately Coburn didn't give the number of the bill, and if you go looking through THOMAS for the current Congress and "Medicare", there are too many bills (338) to wade through. I'd love to know what specific bill he was talking about, so I can read it for myself.

This should get you where you want to go.

This is the text
