You know how at townhall meetings people are always saying if this Obamacare is so great, why not make Congress and the President have it?
Well, my Senator (the one who actually has townhall meetings) Corker says one of the things being discussed is the opposite. If their federal government healthcare (mine, too) is so great, why not give everyone the opportunity to participate in what he calls "cafeteria plans." Federal employees and Congressmen annually choose from a variety of competing plans offered at a variety of prices. You pick the plan that suits your needs and cost so, for example, a 20 year old federal employee might care less about a good office visit co-pay and instead go for the cheaper plan that is better for dental care. A 50 year old might prefer the more expensive one with better vision care and cheaper office visit co-pays. Another employee/Congressman might compare Family plan costs. The point is that you have the opportunity to switch plans every year and that competition between providers plus number of particpants keeps cost down.
For those of you wanting to see Congress have the same insurance plan that you have, would you rather have the same insurance options that they have?
