The question: Is rebuilding another nation wasteful spending?
It is when your own nation is flat busted broke. It is when your own nation is borrowing money from China to pay for these ventures.
If you were broke, your own home needed vast repairs how would you spend your money?
Would you repair someones house that you don't even know? Would you watch your own family go without?
Lets face it as a nation we are not just a little short for the rent, we are 6 months behind and have no money to pay the power or gas bill either.
So yes it is wasteful. Sort of like 800 million to rebuild Gaza for example.

Great, our tax money were spent free the 45 nations in Africa from colonialism and now they are free to starve.

Maybe we should go ahead and spend $1 trillion freeing Puerto Rico (an American colony)

I'm a conservative and I do not think we should be sending ANY money to ANY nation for ANYTHING. We have problems here that need to be taken care of but if a Conservative says that they are heartless and don't care about all the pain in the world.

Smash the bad government, help rebuild the country afterward, gain an ally. Pretty simple if you let it happen.
Exactly. Watch the movie, "Charlie Wilson's War" and that's the punch in the face you'll see.

Price tag to rebuild Iraq rises by $50b - The Boston Globe
July 19, 2006 (FYI, George Bush was the president)

WASHINGTON -- The new Iraqi government will need about $50 billion in additional aid to rebuild the country's oil facilities and electrical grids to prewar levels, the US government's top auditor told Congress yesterday. And he warned that the United States is likely to have to pay the vast majority of it.

The funds would be on top of the roughly $30 billion that the United States has already committed to rebuild the war-torn country since the March 2003 invasion -- most of which has been spent. The estimate is also in addition to the steadily rising cost of the American military deployment in Iraq, which has topped $300 billion, according to the latest government figures.
I think the money should go to rebuild our own nation firsts, then when we have things straight at home, if we have money left over then of course, lets help other people. However I don't believe in shoving democracy on countries that are not ready for it. Shock and surprise but democracy doesn't work for everyone.

Yep. It is wasteful spending only if tax dollars are used to rebuild the USA. It becomes socialism then.

You break it you buy it. You can't run around dismantling nations and not expect to rebuild, otherwise you're just asking for severe blowback.

If you don't like it don't push for idiotic wars.
