Simple question,
Rebuilding nations = wasteful spending?

U.S. Has End in Sight on Iraq Rebuilding - washingtonpost.com

January 2006

At the same time, the hundreds of Americans and Iraqis who have devoted themselves to the reconstruction effort point to 3,600 projects that the United States has completed or intends to finish before the $18.4 billion runs out around the end of 2006. These include work on 900 schools, construction of hospitals and nearly 160 health care centers and clinics, and repairs on or construction of nearly 800 miles of highways, city streets and village roads.

Analysis: Afghan highway symbol of mission in crisis - CNN.com

September 2009

Paid for with U.S. dollars, Afghanistan's Highway 1 was supposed to symbolize a path toward a bright future when it was repaved five years ago.
The $300 million project smoothed over the highway's rough potholes and cut in half the 12-hour drive time from the capital, Kabul, to the country's political center, Kandahar.

Yes. I do consider it wasteful spending ESPECIALLY when our country is so in the dumps. Forget it. Stop all aid to ISRAEL, Iraq and whatever wherever and spend IT HERE AT HOME.

Oh wait. It is ok if we give to Israel and foreign places but not here. Thats socialism.

I definitely thnk Germany and japan show that rebuiding nations works. Its just that n antion has too many arrowheads that can support themselves now days because they are lazy from grade school to gravyard. They think they are too intelligent for any work they are qaulified for mostly.I call it the manson syndrome after Charles Manson.

Its funny how socialism doesn't exist when you talk about aid to israel, iraq, columbia, mexico, japan, south korea and the 800 military bases around the world....if you believe this so called free market of things then you should let the world operate that way...if a country can't defend itself too bad.....why are we propping them up?

i am a "teaparty american" who just voted. nation building requires MORE taxation and i don't think any "teaparty american" wants to waste money rebuilding other countries when we have our own issues that require our attention.

we want to keep our tax money here, helping americans.

"Rebuilding" as aiding nation building is actually a great way to fight terror and global instability, as such, it's a terribly small price to pay compared ot the billions spent on warfare.

But why is it that spending tax money, as you call it, outside America can't help Americans?
