Whats funny is that when ever someone points out something dumb that the Obama's have done, it is considered name calling or hate...could it be that its just to truth in some cases.

Seriously, What she did was unnecessary and if you think about it, disruptive to the businesses in the area. Probably cost them alot of money. Also, who do you think paid for her little "shopping" experience? Thats right, the hard working people of this country. I say if I have to shop for bargains then so should the President and his family. If I have to live a lower standard of living..so should they. After all you say they support the poor and not the rich, if they truly did then they would live like those the support dont you think?

And if she did that, they would find some reason to criticize her -- call her imperial like a queen who never leaves her palace or some such nonsense. She's damned if she does, damned if she doesn't.

That makes no sense.
1. When those who have spend their money, it provides jobs for those who don't have. Why should those who have live as if they don't have? It doesn't help and just might hurt those who don't have.
2. If you insist that those who don't need to shop for bargains, those who do need to shop for bargains will have more competition in finding them.

Of course the whole point she was trying to make with the trip is lost on those whose only focus is to bash anything and everything she does. She is trying to focus on healthy eating, calling attention to the availability of locally grown fruits and vegetables. The merchants at that farmers' market were thrilled to have her and the attention her visit brought. If there was some disruption, reasonable people get over it. (I should know, I once had to change my birthday plans because a presidential visit was going to close the road I had to travel. I got over it.)

Try looking at the list where the carbon-footprint of "fly a 747 from Texas to DC to possibly interfere in someone's end of life decison" charade is listed, maybe you'll find it there.

She went shopping for fresh veggie for the family, woop de do. AND, like all Presidents and their families, they pay for their own food. If you have never tasted the difference between fresh 'Farmers Market' veggies and grocery store veggies, I understand why you don't understand this trip.

Again with the 'who do you think paid for the....' Are you so ill informed that you think her Secret Service people, chauffeur, etc. are only paid if they go somewhere? They are on 24/7, be they sitting on their duffs or taking a ride, they're paid the same.

As for 'lost business', bull shat! Businesses in New York reported increased sales after the Obama's dinner there as a direct result of their attending a show and having dinner there.

Spending money is supporting the economy. Staying home pretending you don't have money and hoarding it is detrimental to the economy.

Maybe if Republicans were not such hateful unamerican nuts Michelle wouldn't need all that security? But as it stands, the Obama's are a big target for the racist America haters!

it sounds like she lobbied to get a farmer's market closer to the white house so she could go there without causing as much of a public disturbance as if she and her entourage went all the way to dupont circle for her vegetables. and now people in that area have a convenient farmer's market to go to. the problem is exactly what?

streets are shut down for farmer's markets all the time, in cities all over the country. it's not obama being special that shut down the street. it's the fact that there was a farmer's market on it. an expensive one, perhaps (although in my experience any market will have fancy expensive stuff but also deals), but a farmer's market anyone can go to.

and, you know, it often costs more when you support small farmers rather than getting stuff from the grocery store that travelled thousands of miles from some megafarm in another state or country. personally, i think it's worth it in many ways (supporting small businesses, helping the environment, not eating pesticides, taste & quality) and although i am far from rich i spend less on other things so i can buy local & organic food as much as possible. for the same reason, i support local businesses over chains as much as i can, even if it's a bit more expensive.

I am sorry it is all a stunt. There was no need to do everything that she did. She could have taken the limo there with a few escorts a and gone shopping or had someone go for her. All she has to do is say she supports the farmers market and we would believe her.

And if you think that stunt didnt cost anything extra, really think about it.
