Al Gore was basically just the spokesman and the one that put the documentary together. But Al Gore DID NOT just make up the information.
Well actually he did, a lot of the information he used in that documentary has been shown to be false or misleading. He's the poster child of the environmental movement yet he can't get his facts straight, refuses to publicly debate anyone on the issue, is raking in millions of dollars with the potential for probably billions and to top it all off doesn't practice what he preaches starting off with his home that uses 10X the energy of the average US home.
You don't see a problem with any of that or conflict of interest?

Regardless of which of the data or facts are disproven or are still being debated, there is no denying that mankind is having a negative effect on the planet. If not stronger hurricanes, then other disasters have already proven that we are most definitely on and have been on a collision course with nature. Why is admitting that a bad thing? By ignoring the facts, it opens the door for nitwits and corporate greed to condone more polluting of the air, water and soil. There is an island in the middle of the Pacific made of plastic due to man's ignorance, stupidity and lack of responsibility. What is there to cheer about if the effects come about in ways that do not adhere to what might have been originally thought? No matter how you slice it, archaic ways of fueling an overpopulated planet is moronic.

Maybe we should put more funding into fusion power to speed up the development process instead of wasting money in solar and wind energy which are about as efficient as potato batteries.

So the solution is to drive energy prices through the roof, drop our standard of living and let China and India continue on down their path?
The switch from fossil fuels can and will be done but it needs to be done in prudent and practical manner that is economically sound instead of driving the bus off the cliff.

I agree...we should have a responsible and common sense environmental policy...but not environmental fanaticism...as though humans shouldn't exist on this planet....
Why are you jumping on Gore about this? You read one thing on the topic, apparently something Gore wrote or said, and that's the extent of your research?
Hmmm, I didn't see Gore cited in the following scientific discussions/studies. Will you be starting new threads ridiculing the scientists and their Institutions/Universities/et al mentioned/quoted in these articles?
“Global warming is as real as it gets,” Richard A. Anthes, president of the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research, said last month at a weather conference in the Bahamas, where most of the conversation focused on hurricanes. But as for its link to hurricanes, Mr. Anthes said, “I don’t think it’s been proved conclusively.”
Quote:
...the United Nations weather agency, noted that decades-long periods of high and low hurricane activity, unconnected to any climate change, had been recorded before. (Climate experts say a period of high activity began in 1995.)
Quote:
....Kerry A. Emanuel, an atmospheric scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His conclusion that the total power released in Atlantic and western Pacific hurricanes had increased perhaps by half in recent decades, ...
From data going back to the 19th century, scientists have found a correlation between the temperature of the sea surface in the tropical Atlantic and tropical cyclone activity. Warmer surface temperatures are associated with increases in strength and duration of cyclones.
But what is causing the increased surface temperatures?
Some scientists believe human-induced climate change is behind the trend. Others cite a natural cause, the so-called Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation (AMO) -- an ocean cycle similar to, but weaker and less frequent than the El Ni̱o/La Ni̱a cycle.
Yeah, don't let facts get in your way.
You can't get all emotional when they're presented to you; of course, you do deny anything that doesn't fit in your worldview.

My house is heated by solar; never had a problem with water temperature or heat. I live in the darkness of Bavaria and have no problem.
A great deal of our electric power is from wind generation.
I don't know where you're getting your information from, but Europe tends to use efficient heating sources.
