Pew Forum: Religious Groups' Official Positions on Same-Sex Marriage

Interesting list of 16 major religious groups in the US and their official positions on gay marriage. There are multiple Christian groups that actually support gay marriage, contrary to the belief that all Christians must oppose it.
So, will other Christian groups continue to become more liberal on Gay marriage, will the liberal Christian sects go more conservative on the issue, or will we always have this divide?

A poll will also be attached to this thread.

Christians that are cool with gays are in the minority.

How about an option that says "I believe marriage should be a personal issue and the govt should be out of the picture altogether"? That is what I would vote for.

I didn't vote, as I don't think the government should be involved in marriages at all. Marriages should be based on private contracts between individuals, including homosexuals.

No option on this poll for me either. Marriage is a religious institution and should not be recognized in any way by the government. Period. No laws whatsoever should exist regarding marriage.

Allowing all is the same as having no laws regarding the issue. If there were no marriage laws and it was not a legal issue, people could marry whomever they wanted.

Therefore, the option that fits your preference would be the first one.

I disagree. To have legal status there must be legislation that recognizes marriage. I don't think that there should be legal or illegal marriages, no legislative tax breaks or penalties, no special recognition as it pertains to services, no anything regarding marriage. It is my humble opinion that the government should be "unaware" of its very existence.

The government and the church need to butt out. It is none of their business, whatsoever. And since when is marriage a "religious institution" ? Where the heck have you been all those years? It is not.
