But the option being discussed in the commitee does not include a governamnt option as its the Bacus plan that basically is co-ops.Mccain did laypout the republican plan in the campaign if any demcrats listened.Obama still doesn't have one that he put forward and thre are four democratic plans.Bacuses much like the basics of Mccai's co-op plan is what is being voited on. Then it has to be reconciled between the senate and the house and all important to be scored by CBO as a overall plan because its been rushed and cbo has not scroed it all.

Anyone else want to offer up any guesses in the vote breakdown? Any Dems on the committee will vote against it? Any Republicans for it??

Dems hold a 13-10 advantage on the committee, members are as follows:

Democrats
Max Baucus- MT
John D Rockefeller IV- WV
Kent Conrad- ND
Jeff Bingaman- MN
John Kerry- MA
Blanche Lincolin- AR
Ron Wyden- OR
Charles Schumer- NY
Debbie Stabenow- MI
Maria Cantewell- WA
Bill Nelson- FL
Bob Menendez- NJ
Tom Carper- DE

Republicans
Charles Grassley- IA
Orin Hatch- UT
Olympia Snowe- ME
Jon Kyl- AZ
Jim Bunning- KY
Michael Crapo- ID
Pat Roberts- KS
John Ensign- NV
Mike Enzi- WY
John Cornyn - TX

As I said earlier I expect the vote to be 14-9, mostly party line with all Dems voting Aye Snowe crossing over to vote Aye, and all other Republicans voting no.

"I'd like to make a prediction," said Schumer. "The health care bill that will be
signed into law by the president will have a good, strong, robust public option."

President Obama supports a public option and in the House, conservative Democratic
opposition to the public option is fading, leaving the Senate as the remaining obstacle.

Hatch is in bed with big pharma. If they give Hatch what big pharma wants (12 year exclusive use of their drugs before generics kick in) then Hatch will roll and vote Aye.

That's my guess.

Yep, Schumer is on the Senate Finance Committee. He has been in NY Politics since the early 70's the Senate for 10 years. Enjoys an overwhelming approval rating and I think he knows a thing or two... Forgot to mention that he is liberal...
