The military general credited with capturing Saddam Hussein and killing the leader of al Qaeda in Iraq, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, says he has spoken with President Obama only once since taking command in Afghanistan.
"I’ve talked to the president, since I’ve been here, once on a VTC [video teleconference]," Gen. Stanley McChrystal told CBS reporter David Martin in a television interview that aired Sunday.
"You’ve talked to him once in 70 days?" Mr. Martin followed up.
"That is correct," the general replied.
I would say that 1) Obama has his mind made already, and the appointment of McChrystal is only a sham; 2) Obama operates on ESP; 3) Obama cares not about success, or failure in Afghanistan. Take your pick. I guess the HPIC really is, unbeknownst to the rest of us.
Ever hear of the chain of command?
I would assume that Obama talks with Gates.
Gates is the Afghani General's boss.
Much ado about nothing.
Using your logic, the Commander In Chief would never have a discussion with a General in the field. Why should it go all the way to the top? Because Obama fired the first field commander in 58 years, replaced him with McChrystal and sent him there for his assessment of the Afghan war, that's why. I'm not advocating that they be best friends, but one conversation in 2.5 months is a bit disturbing considering Obama is banking his entire war-presidency, and America's national security, on his decisions in Afghanistan.
obama still thinks healthcare is more important than National Security. now he's flying off to try to get the olympics in chicago. thats what i call a commander in chief

You know anything about the military? I do... There is what they call that silly "Chain of Command" thing, ya know. You have the Secretaries e.g. Secretary of the Navy, Army so on, Joint Chiefs, Secretary of Defense than the Commander -n- Chief...
