I think we have conceptual problems untangling corporatism from our other ideologies. Corporatism is NOT good for anyone's economy over time. However, corporatists have been very successful at merging the idea of corporatism with the idea of free-markets in the US.
As a result, a more cautious economy along the lines of the various nations of the Eurozone is getting closer to overtaking the US in per capita GDP terms - not just overall terms.
Do you believe in American style capitalism,
lower taxes, smaller government sector, mostly private healthcare ,tuition funded higher education ,
in as European style socialism,
higher taxes, bigger gov sector, mostly public healthcare, tax funded education,
or in a system in between those 2 ?
I would be perfectly happy with minimal government, which is why I voted for Chuck Baldwin. I have lived in Europe and was OK with their system too (free market economy with tax-money funded HC and education), but I do not believe such system would work here.

Capitalism and socialism are merely political ideologies. In terms of economics, the US and most European nations have mixed economies. This is an area between free market economies and centrally controlled command economies. Healthcare and education are social issues, and are often mistaken as part of economic ideology.. And for the record, the 'capitalist' US has the highest corporate tax rate in the world, and some of the deepest running economic regulations.

That's true; it is one of the highest rates. However, due to corporatism, American corporate tax policy is so ridden with exceptions and write-offs and special interest laws that the rate is completely unpredictable for any given corporation until you have a team of accountants and tax lawyers research the situation.

Correct, but I use the 2 systems as symbols of 2 worlds...
I voted for OTHER. I would've voted for American style capitalism, but as it exists TODAY it's proving to cause way too many ills.
Today's environment reminds me of the horrors that Teddy Roosevelt had to deal with, and he did. If we can get back to where we have a FAIR DEAL again, for all of us and not just the corporate / Wall Street greedsters, then I'll go for USA style capitalism. But we gotta fix the SEC, FED, Treasury, Deficits FIRST before I'll say I love the stuff. We gotta chill out the enviro-fascists too if we have a prayer of building any new infrastructure or nuclear power plants, etc.

How about a system that doesn't sell us out to Chinese Communist debt, and make the towns so corporate that they all start to look alike as you drive down main street ????
