As previously mentioned in this thread, that equates to about 100 per job. During the boom in the 90's, I was a recruiter for an employment agency. The pile of resumes we received for each job was tremendous, easily over 100 per position.
I can only imagine how many work we'd have been wading through if we had the capability to post jobs online and have people email resumes... this was back in the day when everyone faxed everything in.
First off, it's 1000 per job, not 100 per job. But that notes 2 things:
1) It's not a "job market", it's a "job lottery"
2) But that said, I've been arguing that even in good times, these kind of ads get 100+ resumes per job. It's really who you know.....

Well, yes and no. People are saying that number (actually 17% now) is the one to compare to the 25% ue rate peak of the Great Depression. That's actually not true. I can't find the article anymore, but the criteria to get the 25% number then is closer to that used for the almost 10% number today. The number to compare the 17% to was almost 38% at the height of the GD.
Of course, even today's number is quite grim and (at least post-WW II) unprecedented.....

I think the plan is to create enough grief and despair that most of the country will give up all their freedoms and liberty just so 0bama will take his foot off their backs and plant it on their throats.
Maybe in another 100 days the world will dump the US dollar as the world's international currency. All this in one short year of 0bamanomics
Just on the news, the USA lagging behind all countries creating jobs. Don't you just get all tingly about hussein obama (while you are standing in the welfare lines)?
I am beyond thankful to have a job in this environment. Part skillful planning, part hard-work, and part luck have kept me employed.
Very humbling indeed.
Coudn't agree more. My business has flattened pretty bad. No building, no real money. Barely enough to keep the lights on. Had to start sending out resume's myself. Thankfully one of them caught someones eye. Twixt the job and the business part time, I can keep us above water. USPS has slashed my wifes hours to next to nothing, and two years ago I couldn't keep up with all the work I had. Yea, happy days are here aye

The fact that 1,000 people applied to each position is, in fact, no big deal. Especially for a position with a pension. I got hundreds for office clerk positions.
