An old man in a cave? Nah, doesn't seem plausible. How about keeping the bombstrapping boogeyman idea alive and well while we install friendly regimes and occupying forces to extract Central Asian oil and natural gas? Now that's what I call a good idea!

Are YOU a good "moderate" pro-war Democrat?

Well, I am not a Democrat, and I am not behind him on the wars at all. I want the US to fix our own domestic house of cards.

Yes- It is time to cut our losses and leave.
Having stable countries surrounding nuclear armed nations would benefit us dramatically.

However, the only real way to have success in Afghanistan is to talk to the locals, this includes the Taliban, and come to some kind of deal. Then you can begin nation building.

We are going to have to get off of the "no opium" kick. Its their country, if they want to grow it, then they should have that right.

I wonder who will "Nation Build" our faltering country? How about our own sweet selves, and we keep our pokey noses out of foreign lands. Are any other places as worried as we are about the "monsters under the beds" who are going to take away our liberties, spray us with anthrax, convert us to a new religion, etc. ?

Question Stay the course, anyone?

It seems that some formerly hawkish righties are now wanting to "cut and run."

Don't know the difference between a leftist neo-con and a paleo-conservative, eh?
