You have to remember this is the same state that kept re-electing the man who led the opposition against the Civil Rights act and the Voter Registration movement in Strom Thurmond. They kept him in office until 2003. And when faced with this fact, their residents will chime in with a weak excuse about how Strom "changed" Yeah right, he changed so much, he never acknowledged a daughter he had with an African American woman. Most states would be ashamed to keep a racist like Strom in office but not South Carolina.
