House leaders are closing in on an $871 billion health-care package that would extend insurance to millions of Americans who don't have it, raise taxes on the nation's richest families and repeal the insurance industry's long-standing anti-trust exemption, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Thursday.

A measure to strip the industry of protection from federal investigations into price-fixing and other business practices won bipartisan approval in a House committee on Wednesday.

Yes they better have mandates and the public option in there or it's not going to do much.

I thought Obama only threatened to take away that anti-trust exemption.
Interesting. That makes both unions and the insurers against this now.

No surprise that you believe that. I just pray that at least some of those that support this garbage will start to stand up when they realize they're being lied to.

Wishful thinking, I know. Common sense isn't really a trait you develop over time.

The unions were thrown under the bus. They were all for this until they found out their "cadillac" health plans would be taxed.

To any small business owner that is not rich either.
But this administration will tax anyone making above $250K.
That's what they consider the start of "the rich".
