Check again. In 1979 the Supreme Court ruled that students must be allowed to register to vote using their college residence addresses.

More info:
Rock the Vote: Student Voting Rights

Why do you insist otherwise?

Here your voter registration is based on your home domicile (or in the case of students - their parents home) on their drivers license. You could change it, but most won't change it, even if they are year round students, as their insurance would go up, as they would not be on their parents insurance policy. But as soon as you register with a new address on your D/L, your old address is voided and the county clerk is notified to remove you from the voter registry.

So you can't vote here with out a Michigan license or Michigan ID card. Some one from elsewhere would either have to get a Michigan licence, or vote in their home state.

from my county clerk/register website:

How Do I Register?

To register to vote you must be …
 • a U.S. citizen;
 • at least 18 years of age by election day;
 • a resident of Michigan and the city or township where you are applying to register to vote.
Please note your voter registration address must match your driver's license address. If you register by mail or anywhere other than the Secretary of State branch office, your address on your driver's license will be changed as well. A sticker with your new address will be mailed to you for the back of your driver's license.

Well let's just take one piece of John Fund's column. How do you explain, "in the 2005, when the city's voters voted for both governor and mayor on the same day, only 200 absentee ballots were cast. This year, some 3,700 have already been received."

I guess the absentee ballots found in the car trunk like in the Al Franken election in Minnesota can't be repeated in NJ.

John Fund, by the way, the author of this weekly column in the Wall Street Journal, has a paperback book called "Stealing Elections: How Voter Fraud Threatens Our Democracy." It was published in July 2008. So you might say he's somewhat of an expert on voter fraud tactics.

Shenandoah County, VA is just one example of what went on in the 2008 election:

"An ongoing analysis of data matching voter registration lists in other states with the list of newly registered voters in Virginia has confirmed that there are thousands of students who attend college in Virginia who are registered here as well as in their home state. Even more alarming, some of these students have applied for absentee ballots in their home state after having just registered to vote here...

This situation is a direct result of the intervention by Governor Kaine’s office in the policymaking process, supported by pressure from the Obama campaign directed toward both the State Board of Elections and local Registrars."

Here, absentee ballots have been going up each year. In my city of 2400 we have a large number of people who vote absentee since the rules were relaxed a few years ago.

You need to dig a little deeper. Colleges usually have the correct voter information for students:

Quote:
Q: I am a student attending college in Michigan. Can I register to vote in my college community?
A: Yes. You may register to vote so you can vote in the precinct where you live in your college community if you are a U.S. citizen, are at least 18 years of age by election day and have been a legal resident of the township, city or village where you live in your college community for at least 30 days before the election. Under Michigan law, your legal residence is the place where you habitually sleep, keep your personal belongings and have your regular place of lodging.

You would have to change your legal residence to here, and you need a Michigan drivers license (since your legal residence is now here).

In any election, the Republican ticket has to count on a handicap of at least 1% of the voting results due to Democrat fraud in the major cities. The cities are where all of the fraud takes place and the cities are where the Democrat machine has control.
Absentee ballots are used and for some reason it is always the Democrat party of the state who fights the disqualification of substantial numbers of the ballots based on mismatched signatures.
I wonder why.

Not true. Read the answer to the first question again:

"Under Michigan law, your legal residence is the place where you habitually sleep, keep your personal belongings and have your regular place of lodging."

Furthermore, from the Michigan Secretary of State:

Quote:
In addition to a Michigan driver's license or state-issued ID, other acceptable forms of identification include:
 • Driver's license or personal identification card issued by another state
 • Federal or state government-issued photo identification
 • U.S. passport
 • Military ID with photo
 • Student identification with photo from a high school or accredited institution of higher learning
 • Tribal identification card with photo

Pretty hard to vote if you can't register.......

Michigan law states that the same address must be used for voter registration and driver's license purposes. That means, if the residence address you provide on the application differs from the address shown on a driver's license or personal identification card issued by the state of Michigan, the Secretary of State will automatically change your driver's license or personal ID card address to match the residence address entered on this form. If a change is made, the Secretary of State will mail you an address update sticker for your driver's license or personal ID card.

and the fact, that if you become a resident, you have 30 days to get a Michigan D/L.

That only applies to those who have a Michigan driver's license/state ID.

Again, from the Michigan Secretary of State...
Quote:
At the polls, voters will be asked to present voter identification. Voter ID includes a Michigan driver's license, state-issued personal ID card or other acceptable form of ID...

Students from other states who are attending a Michigan college or university can still register to vote in Michigan. But, they must register by the Oct. 6 deadline.

Think about it... Michigan isn't going to screw around and openly defy a standing U.S. Supreme Court decision.
