Refusing to accept the explanation of Toyota and the federal government, hundreds of Toyota owners are in rebellion after a series of accidents caused by what they call "runaway cars."
More PhotosSafety analysts found an estimated 2000 cases in which owners of Toyota cars including Camry, Prius and Lexus, reported that their cars surged without warning up to speeds of 100 miles per hour.
I take it you have a Toyota?! Any updates from Toyota Corp.?
I have a Toyota Tacoma. But the reason for what I said is this issue is reminiscent of the "unintended acceleration" problem that Audi had to deal with in the 80's. My Toyota has been all right.

Did they also find the cause of the amnesia making people forget where the brake pedal is?
It seems to be something of a mystery. According to the article...
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has done six separate investigations of such acceleration surges in Toyotas since 2003 and found no defect in Toyota's electronics.
But,
The U.S. Department of Transportation released a statement Tuesday afternoon saying the matter "is not closed."
I understand that Toyota has said that interference with the driver's side floor mat is the cause, but I'm not convinced. Toyota is recalling 3.8 million cars for this problem.
The article states: "Toyota has written to vehicle owners stating that it has decided that a safety defect exists in their vehicles and asking owners to remove all floor mats while the company is developing a remedy."
From another article: "Until Toyota figures it out, lose the mats if you own a 2007-10 Camry, 2005-10 Avalon; 2004-09 Prius; 2005-10 Tacoma; 2007-10 Tundra; 2007-10 ES 350; and 2006-10 IS 250 or IS 350."

So we have a case of the "floor mat" flooring the gas up to 100mph ?
Yeah..I can just picture that one....
"But officer, it wasn't me. It was my floor mat."
