$300 a month? Where'd you get that? And the insurance isn't just for checkups, it's for the surgerys and follow-ups that cost 100s of thousands of dollars and send people into financial ruin.

If you have healthcare already, you wont have to pay for anything mandatory.

Ugh I was trying to get you to tell me how it will be paid for because I was trying to make a point. People are already taxed for things they do not use and this is one more. I will be taxed for health coverage that I will not use and fined if I don't have it. People can not afford to send their kids to private school because they are being taxed out the ass for public schools it will be no different with health care. People will have to drop the policies they have through private insurance because they will not be able to afford to pay for both. Both with public schools and this healthcare bill people will be caught in a catch 22.

Isnt it up to the parents to be sure the kids have a decent educational foundation, therefrom to rise above mediocre teaching? If kids need supplemental education shouldnt parents help them find that?

It never fails to amaze me how righties want to be "given" a "choice" in this matter. Move to a better school district, shell out the bucks for a private education, get involved with the teachers and counselors, hire a tutor, home school... maintain a conducive atmosphere at home in the first place... plenty of ways to be sure your kid gets a great education without crying for the government to fix your problems for you.

Also love the creepy, classic-rightie victimized tone: "we dont have a choice, we're forced, our hands are tied...."

Ugh..make your point in another thread..This is not the "How will we pay for _______" thread.

You wont be fned if you already have healthcare and if you claim you dont want healthcare, you're being dishonest. People send there children to public school because it's free and it's what they know.

If there were NO TAXES most Americans still couldn't afford either private healthcare or private schools. Taxes are a conveinent excuse many things but illogical in this matter.

True for many. The local school district gets 78% of the property tax bills around here. If the average home value is $400,000, the property tax bill is ~$9,000 per year with the public school district getting just over $7,000 of that.

Not even similar, there is no way to compare; it's like bananas and mangos.
