Meanwhile, as Obama takes his time to come up with some goals, which by the way, he said stated the goal "is a must win", soldiers will continue to die.
Yes, they started to die as soon as we went there 7 years ago. Death tends to be the uncomfortable reality of war. Do you really expect them to stop dying if we send in another 40 000 troops? That's pretty naive thinking.
PS McCrystal asked for 40K more troops over a period of a year, so no one asked them to arrive today.

The whole point of sending more troops is to prevent further death. Of course there will be casualties, but with an increased troop strength, the mission can be accomplished more quickly.
It's pretty naive to think that waiting longer to make a decision is going to prevent sending troops there in the first place.
Also, McCrystal actually requested 80,000 troops, which basically was a throw away number. He feels that the minimum of 40k will do the job. Of course Obama will send less than that.

If the primary objective is to save US lives, then the only option is to pull out completely.
What mission are you talking about? Can you define the mission in Afghanistan?
Wonder of those troops would still be willing to play basketball or sit and eat with him now that he's leaving them there for nothing with no plan for action.
So, you want 40K more troops to accomplish the mission, and then you admit there is no mission. I am glad you are starting to see the light.
I never said that I wanted more troops there. Actually I would like to see the troops come home, because the support by their commander in chief and congress is not there.
Also I want a decision to be made by a dithering president. Either pull out or send more troops.
I don't know what our mission there is anymore, and obviously the president doesn't have a clue either.
Yep, either give them a mission with a goal or bring them home. Don't leave them there in limbo.

Obviously the past admin never bothered to define the mission, so now they are faced with the task of defining it.
Childish blame game rhetoric.
Obama was fully aware of Afghanistan before assuming the presidency.
