The tax payers that paid that 50% of that stadium are going to be really happy about it.
This smells like corruption = Pay with taxes then sell for 1% of the value to a friend

Hmmm,

Tampa had 17 million into the "big Sombrero" then bulldozed it.

The Astrodome, 35 million, now vacant.

Chicago Stadium, 9.5 million, bulldozed and turned into a parking lot.

I still say, 500K is good deal for something that has virtually no value.

Yes, I think they will resist using it as a Fema camp.

If you think you are going to get a rise out of me by mentioning John Street you are sadly mistaken. I worked very hard on behalf of Sam Katz, a Republican at the time, to unseat that pompous ass. Remember all politics is local and when it comes to municipal elections Dem vs Rep don't mean squat.

As for the topic at hand, Republican and Democrats are more than guilty for their dipping into the cesspool of corporate (sports) socialism.

One of the earlier bidders, is now screaming lawsuit, since he had offered 17 million for it, but the city turned him down. (They didn't want his proposed project for the property, as reported by a local radio station)

This is how business operates today. Once taxes are cut to zero, the only place to go is to give money to businesses. How are them tax cuts workin' out?

The property was up for public auction. I even received an invitation to bid but the type of property is of no interest to me and I dont have that kinda money to burn to renevate what needed renovating.

And the bidders are from Canada. It was even owned by the public, who of course did not have their taxes cut. Tell me exactly what tax cuts (as if there are any tax cuts taking place) have to do with the topic other than it was another baseless attack thrown in for the hell of it..

They gave lots of tax cuts to the Lions and Pistons to play there. But the teams didn't get all (or a controlling %) of the concessions and parking, so they left, as soon as their lease was up. (the Lion's left early and just paid the last years of their lease)
