Fresh from their defeat in the NY 23rd Congressional District, the RNC is happily at work crafting their latest fantasy and sticking Ronald Reagan's name all over it, as if that confers sacred status and certain vote getting. Amazing for its stupidity. Simply amazing. The RNC comes up with it's version of "Back to the Future" starring Ronald Reagan's memory. Truth is, neither Reagan nor the idiot G. W. Bush would pass the GOP Purity Pledge, that's the twisted beauty of this latest execrable piece of GOP hypocrisy.

Item #1 of the GOP Purity Pledge calls for GOP candidates to support: "Smaller government, smaller national debt, lower deficits and lower taxes." Reagan FAILED on all four legs of this lame elephantine joke. The idiot Bush failed outright on all four, though he cut taxes in 2001, he did it with red ink and the deficits he left are a form of higher tax in that we're gonna pay that bill later and pay double for it by the time all the interest on that debt is added to the principal.

Item #5 of the GOP Purity Pledge calls for GOP candidates to support: "Legal immigration and assimilation into American society by opposing amnesty for illegal immigrants." Hell, it was a massive FAIL by Reagan who gladly gave amnesty to 6M illegals in 1986. I recall the lines of people that went clear around the local INS office as people lined up to apply for amnesty. The idiot Bush did nothing but turn a blind eye to the problem.

Source, MSNBC. Click to see all ten planks in the GOP stupidity pledge. These GOP guys haven't a clue. None. A race to the bottom.

Eh....I think you forgot those 2 HUGE wins in NJ and VA, not to mention the unprecedented wins in the NYC suburbs.

People are concerned about budgets and deficits and spending - all too much under obama and that is why Indies are flocking to the GOP.

Sounds like a new kind of Contract with America.

Sounds to me a few left wingers are worried about the contract with America knowing that 40% are conservative minded and only 20% are loose cannon fireballs who love to spend money they do not have.

Nice of you to mention the defeat in the 23rd and failed to mention the butt whoopin in the dem stronghold of liberal world NJ and VA.

Pretty bad when a rep kicks the crap out of a liberal from NJ when the entire state is full of liberals. What does that tell you?

Why do you worry about the GOP so much Mike? Your party is in complete chaos right now and they could use your help.

Isn't it an epic fail to propose a pledge that party leaders have failed in the last 30 years?

Or a complete delusion of reality.

One can only conclude that the liberal stance would be the exact opposite of the proposed pledges. When you look at the individual pledges and convert them to the opposing viewpoint, its no wonder that America trends conservative. Like playing a record backwards, Extreme Liberalism is easily defind in those pledges, and that's precisely why 2010 and 2012 will be a bad day for liberals.

That is him!

Quote:
The legislation is frequently cited by opponents of illegal immigration as a failure in that illegal workers were granted amnesty under the plan. It was estimated that over 2.7 million individuals were given a fast, and easy path to legal status from the 1983 IRCA[2]
Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The "Back to the Future platform" of the GOP will be chewed up and spit out in their faces! This will ensure the continuing growth of the Democratic party.

one of his mistakes.....but let's look at the amnesty...shall we...

there have been 8 amnesties passed since 1965...plus one not passed....ALL AUTHORED and pushed by whom......TED KENNEDY

Here is Ted Kennedy commenting on the 1965 immigration bill,Quote
“The bill will not flood our cities with immigrants. It will not upset the ethnic mix of our society. It will not relax the standards of admission.” End of Quote.

Ted Kennedy on the 1986 Simpson-Mazzoli Bill, Quote:
“This amnesty will give citizenship to only 1.1 to 1.3 million illegal aliens. We will secure the borders henceforth. We will never again bring forward another amnesty bill like this.” End of Quote.

Ted Kennedy(2007) on the McCain/Kennedy immigration proposal, Quote:
“The plan will strengthen our borders and our national security while providing a tough but fair path to citizenship for millions of people.” End of Quote

In 1986, Ted Kennedy’s blanket amnesty for 2.7 million illegal aliens promised a lot more enforcement but did not set any requirements for actual reductions in illegal immigration.

In 1994, Ted Kennedy’s Section 245(i) Amnesty gave legal residence and jobs to 578,000 illegal aliens. It was a temporary rolling amnesty primarily for extended mily members of immigrants who instead of waiting in line, come on to the country illegally.

In 1997, Ted Kennedy’s extension of the Section 245(i) rolling amnesty was followed by an increasing flow of illegal immigration.
In 1997, Ted Kennedy also won an amnesty for close to one million illegal aliens from Central America. Illegal immigration sped up some more.

In 1998, Ted Kennedy won an amnesty for 125,000 illegal aliens from Haiti.

In 2000, Ted Kennedy got the so-called Late Amnesty, legalizing another 400,000 illegal aliens who claimed that they missed out on Kennedy’s 1986 amnesty.

In 2000, Ted Kennedy also won the LIFE Act Amnesty for an estimated 900,000 illegal aliens. It was another reinstatement of the rolling Section 245(i) amnesty...an estimated 900,000 illegal aliens. Illegal immigration accelerated.

Smaller government
yep reagan had his hands tied with a democrat congress....bush was just and idiot....the best republican we had in smaller government was Clinton....he did decrease the size of government...unfortunatly he decreased it in the means of infrastructure...8 years of cuts to fema, dot, doi, acoe....

Quote:
smaller national debt, lower deficits and lower taxes
every potus has failed at least part of that since Nixon

reagan at least did lower taxes, so did bush2, but they failed on the debt/deficit

taxes up, debt up, under bush1 and clinton, clinton only was able to get a BUDGET surplus, from cutting infrastructure

I remember when the Republican party had some dignity & status with Americans. Unfortunately the GOP has sold it soul to the devil called evangelical ignoramuses & is a joke now. I don't see much that would encourage any American to embrace the Republican party unless the "Southern influence" is eliminated totally.
