Introduction

During the 2008 presidential campaign, we heard now-President Obama declare that he would cut taxes for 95% of Americans. Consequently, a number of analyses were performed on his proposals, some supporting his 95% claim and others debunking it. As in most election campaigns, analyses tend to be skewed toward their sponsors' way of thinking.

Fast forward to 2009, and we see that President Obama has championed legislation that reduced taxes for most working individuals. As imperfect as The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (the "Stimulus Bill") was, it did contain a certain amount of tax relief through a reduction in payroll taxes and adjustments to certain tax credits.

That's the good news. The bad news is that these same working Americans may also be subjected to legislation and other initiatives that can more than offset any tinkering around the margins Obama has done to produce tax cuts. In fact, some of these current and proposed laws would hit the poorest Americans much harder than any other demographic group.

This week, I'm going to chronicle some of the changes that President Obama has supported and their effect on those least able to pay the tab. Some of these policies and programs have been enacted and others are just proposed, but either way they show that the Obama administration is no friend of the average working American, and especially not the poor.
He gives, and he takes away. Right hand, left hand. Harder days a-coming. Long read, if you can stomach it.

He is not friend of anyone other then those who believe and follow his socialist agenda.

Think about it, his idea to to make everyone poor and weak so he and his robots can control every part of your life.

Do not fear, the end of Obama is near and out goes liberalism in America with it. Thanks to the gift that keeps on giving Obama will be blamed for the dem party becoming the dead beat party of the future.

That's funny.

Right wing GOP Elites oppose universal health care, want to cut Social Security, fight against raises in the minimum wage, fight against funding for meals on wheels, head start etc. are now telling us that it is Obama who's not your friend...LOL

Unbelievable what the right says and thinks it can get away with!

As a result of bailing out the big boys on Wall St., food and energy prices will go up significantly. Since the Treasury will essentially be broke soon, their likely won't be any more bailouts down the pipe.

The hussein obama will never wake up to the threat he is to the poor until it is too late. The cost of everything we touch will rise. many people struggle to afford their utilities now and with hussein obama's plans many will be left in the cold.

Universal healthcare is not a smart move and will cost us more money. Thus a handout to the already abusing lazy people. It's called get a skill, earn your own wages and buy your own HC and do not steal from others.

SS, where did they want to cut SS? Proof please?

Most are against raising the min wage because it will further hurt the already bad job market. As a owner of a business I can tell you that the majority of people are not even worth 7.00 per hour. The last time min wage went up it hurt the job market and caused layoffs.

Since you have never owned a business and would not know this, min wage raises kill small businesses and their growth because you are giving money to people who are not valuable enough to warrant the raises.

Min wage is there for a reason, for those with have minimal skills. In fact min wage should be 5.00 per hour to force the unskilled to work alittle harder and learn a skill or trade to they can become more valuable.

If you are working for min. wage right now that is your fault.

Nice try, but to point out the flaws in the conservative party when all of those things you mentioned have went to hell only since Pelosi and Reid took. They took over 3 years ago and have killed to middle and lower class. This just tells me you have no real clue, just like your leader named Obamason.

The proof is in the pudding, this current dem party is no friend to anyone, successful or poor, rich or middle class, they are out to hurt you.

The rep party is for total personal responsbility. You actually earn what you need or want, try it some time, it works!

Wait until crap and steal gets passed, you wont be able to afford to have your heat on or lights. Obama wants us to live like he did in the villages as a little kid. Burning oil lamps and sleeping in tents. Is his brother still living in that cardboard box I wonder?

hussein obama is just following his "Rules for Radicals" in doing everything he can to destroy the economy so the people will be poor and dependent. It's amazing we have so many fools in this country that buy into this joker.

I'm sure you're probably very secure in your job & your benefits..that's great. But are you aware of the many many people in our country who are not in the position that you are in? Many of these people were just like you...had a great job, good benefits, great insurance, vacation time, sick time. But then they were laid off, or fired or their business failed. If you could for a moment put yourself in their shoes, it shouldn't be hard as these people come from the same ilk as you, I'm assuming. There are even others out there who are even better then you...possibly more talented & more skilled & had better jobs, yet the same thing befelled them. It happened to my best friend...it also happened to another very good friend of mine. I would love for you to come visit, meet them, talk to them & then turn to me & tell me that my two good friends are losers, lazy people who leech off of good workers such as you & myself to get a free load.

There is a difference, they will be ok, if they are hard working and have been successful in the past they will find a way.I am sure if they are skilled and bright and willing to put out the effort they will be fine.

In no way do I mean them at all. If they are hard working and skilled they will be fine. Its those who wont work, wont obtain a new skill or even try that I am going after.

I wish them well, if they are like you say they are I am all for them coming out of this well. They EARNED it. Others have NOT.
