I asked my niece once why she chose to attend church every Sunday. She was not raised in a family that went. She said it keeps her from doing bad during the week. I'm guessing that most people who go have a variety of reasons why they do with fellowship with others being at the top of the list. My theory is that it's like an extension of high school or college for many church goers i.e. they still need to feel apart of something beyond their careers or stay-at-mom role for some of the women. They get to be on committees and work project, share their ups and downs in life, study something they find useful in their lives, and they have a support network when needed. While all those things has some appeal to me, I could never, ever...ever accept Jesus as the one and only path to God which rules out Christianity for me.
I have known good, solid and admirable people who go to church regularly and dishonest, cheating scum bags who go to church regularly. I can say exactly the same thing about the atheists and agnostics I've know. I don't think you can fairly judge a person's character by whether or not they go to church.

What about those who go to Church regularly, but are hypocrats in every sense of the way, some not all. What about the Person who does not go to Church, but is a very decent Person, staying out of trouble. Religion is a topic, that get's so many into trouble, everyone thinks they have the right answer.
