Yes, because giving people who declared war on us the benefit of the doubt and affording them all of our laws -- much of which include innocent until proven guilty -- is much less enticing to them than knowing they'll be locked up never to be heard from again.

Now tell me again what you were saying about Obama ????
We were just starting to get on a war footing in 2001, when the shoe bomber was caught. It was much different when 0bam took office, we had seven years with all the pieces in place and we had procedures all worked out for dealing with terrorists. 0bama has had a year to get a handle on the war, and all the agencies were already in place and well seasoned on how to handle terrorists.

Yeah ... right.

I'm sure Bush didn't know anything about Gitmo in 2001.

And I'm sure the president's military advisors (Joint Chiefs of Staff, etc) had absolutely no input whatsoever in how to deal with Reid in 2001.

Right. And their interrogation methods were so successful that they released the two people who, it turns out, are behind the attempted attack.
We've already gotten more information from this retard, fully Mirandized, than we apparently ever got from the other two.

And, why do you all keep forgetting, or ignoring more likely, the fact that the President has ordered more drone attacks on actual al Qaeda targets than were ordered during the last administration?

Y'all keep getting tangled up with the words - he didn't say 'war', he didn't say 'terror'. Besides the fact that's utter BS, I'll take the action over words any day. Thank you very much, Mr. President.

No one's forgot. Obama is willing to murder these "American" citizens without a trial, unless of course they're captured.

It's not us that is getting tangled up with words. You need look no further than Obama himself who's getting tangles up with his own words and deeds.

When Bush took office the US was treating terrorists as civilians. It took a while for Bush to pass legislation together to deal with "unlawful enemy combatants' in a type of war we had never fought before.

Even the Geneva Conventions had no specific guidelines for terrorists who engage in a world wide effort to murder civilians. Bush had to put his staff and advisers to work to decide how to treat these terrorists, where they citizens of another country, common criminals, war criminals, enemy prisoners, or a new classification altogether?

Aside from your opinion of him, Bush was not a superman, who could build a prison for unlawful enemy combatants, write rules of engagement, rules for interrogation, and decipher international law and decide upon policy for this new classification of enemy.

In other words, you are full of crap. You people tell us to give 0bama a break, and wait over a year before we critique his handling of the economy, and yet you expect that Bush put together an international coalition to fight a war, create new laws and policies and new court proceedings to handle these war criminals, and rebuild a detention facility in three months flat.

Back to complaining about his choice of words I see.

Translation: Obama is doing a good job, my party is fading further into oblivion and I have nothing else to whine about.

He's a lawyer... He got a degree in words. But even worse than that are his actions since they don't match his words.
