"AUSTIN, Texas - ....The board’s far-right faction has spent months now proclaiming the importance of emphasizing America’s exceptionalism in social studies classrooms. But today they voted to remove one of the greatest of America’s Founders, Thomas Jefferson, from a standard about the influence of great political philosophers on political revolutions from 1750 to today."
"A far-right faction of the Texas State Board of Education succeeded Friday in injecting conservative ideals into social studies, history and economics lessons that will be taught to millions of students for the next decade."

Constitutional republic is the only effective change they made.
Excluding the names and stories of influential Hispanics is a huge slap across the face of the Latino community. Remember Texas was Latino prior to White Anglo domination. Tejano culture is rich in heritage and history.
Religious scripture should be eradicated from society. When will people learn? I guess never. Now they want text books to have religious information in it.
"Numerous attempts to add the names or references to important Hispanics throughout history also were denied, inducing one amendment that would specify that Tejanos died at the Alamo alongside Davy Crockett and Jim Bowie. Another amendment deleted a requirement that sociology students 'explain how institutional racism is evident in American society.'"
"Democrats did score a victory by deleting a portion of an amendment by Republican Don McLeroy suggesting that the civil rights movement led to 'unrealistic expectations for equal outcomes.'"
This garbage in Austin,Texass is a perfect example of institutional racism and bigotry. Students should learn about that starting in 5th grade. Silent racism and ethnocentrism is very real.
It is a real shame that Tejano culture and history is ignored in favor of white anglo brainwashing.

"Teachers in Texas will be required to cover the Judeo-Christian influences of the nation's Founding Fathers, but not highlight the philosophical rationale for the separation of church and state." “I reject the notion by the left of a constitutional separation of church and state,” said David Bradley, a conservative from Beaumont who works in real estate. “I have $1,000 for the charity of your choice if you can find it in the Constitution.”
Now, what is wrong with the above?
Yeah, find that in the Constitution for me.

Curriculum standards also will describe the U.S. government as a "constitutional republic," rather than "democratic," and students will be required to study the decline in value of the U.S. dollar, including the abandonment of the gold standard.
