She was simply emphasizing that she was quoting someone else and that they weren't her words (in the original post). You may want to read it again, bearing in mind the context of the other posts associated with it. I don't think she was lecturing about proper usage.
Trust me. I understand the rationale behind this individual's post via volumes of thread history on this forum. YOU see the surface, I see idiocy rooted in numerous posts of such triviality. Her views are well known, and this thread is no different. She's simply hiding behind "quotation marks," instead of defending her own post when someone takes her to task. And thus, we get idiotic references to definitions like "Kindergarten." Thanks for taking up for her, though. I'm sure she appreciates it.

Okayyyy thennnn.
Trust YOU? *LOLSPITS*
So first you use the old "you used to be better than this" routine and now you're slagging her forum history. Which is it Professor?
And you are right down their in the mud too bud, don't kid yourself.

/ignore (Which I should have done months ago.)
LOL
Ignore list? Awesome! Another liberal bites the dust! You folks make yourselves look more and more inept with every passing day.
Ignore Lists are for lightweights. I have ZERO people on my ignore list because i'm not scared of opposing viewpoints.
And by the way....show me where I used the "you used to be better than this" argument. I defy you to do this. But I certainly won't hold my breath considering you don't have the fortitude to stand up and debate intelligently.
Unbelievable. I'd be embarrassed beyond embarrassed to have my name associated with this post. Not only do you find it necessary to be a keyboard cop, you actually believe what you're doing is the right thing to do. This is not the first time i've seen such absurdity coming from your posts. Not only do Texas textbooks bother you, you fret over trivial nothingness. How boring life must really be for you. And liberals wonder why they're the laughing-stock of this nation. I dont' know whether to feel sorry for you or to just chalk it up to one of the millions of examples of how Barack Obama got elected. Trust me. chronological reports on events leading to the most recent Texas textbooks vote: Textbooks | TPMMuckraker
"Asked by an African-American board member about his objection to the inclusion of Thurgood Marshall in the textbook standards -- Rev. Marshall called the jurist not 'a strong enough example' -- Rev. Marshall responded: 'He's known primarily for that one very important Supreme Court decision.'
"Marshall had also objected to the inclusion of Cesar Chavez in the new standards, but, curiously -- to make a point, perhaps -- suggested listing Pedro Flores, who Marshall falsely described as the inventor of the yo-yo. (In fact he is regarded as the first yo-yo manufacturer in the United States)."
I think you who believe the changes are wrong are taking the wrong approach. Encourage so called conservative types to go even further, such as to have a state born again only type religion. One can normally rely on so called conservatives to over reach. We set a conservative politician up by bringing up family values, he could not help himself from boasting how much he believed in family values. Then we dropped the boom by mentioning the affair he was having, worked like a charm.
The bottom line is this country is waking up to the destruction liberalism poses to this country and our youth. Their left winger progressive (actually regressive) indoctrination and propaganda has hurt generations by giving them sub-standard teachers who's main agenda is promoting their socialist/communist views and degenerate lifestyles.
Changing the textbooks back to reality and common sense is one small step towards undoing the decay from the left. It will still be an uphill climb because the teachers come straight from progressive professors with their anti-American warped views.
Seriously, I know you wingnuts like to defend your side at all costs - but even if I was a Republican, I would think that I could recognize and admit that this is a bad process. That board is made up of a dentist, some lawyers, some businesspeople...and NOT ONE real historian. I would have thought that intelligent people could set partisanship aside for a minute and admit that education would be best not overly politicized - by Republicans or Democrats - and therefore best to have this in the hands of real educators and historians... but nooo. Always gotta defend the home team at all costs.

Agree. I havent looked for proposals of alternatives to the current arrangement in Texas but there must be some. I remember reading somewhere Richard Feynman talking about having been on a science textbook board, but cant remember the source.
This excellent article had its own thread, maybe a couple of threads, a few weeks ago, describing a little of the history, and the scene and the players in Texas as they approached this vote. It's long but hugely informative and, amazingly, neutral in tone.
