Airmen from the 621st Contingency Response Wing worked through the predawn darkness Friday to bring a sliver of order in the chaos wrought by the earthquake that has killed thousands here. They erected tents, established communication by satellite with planes and began to manage the first trickle of what is expected to be a flood of humanitarian aid. Staff Sgt. David Dumalo arrived Thursday morning as part of a 13-member team charged with assessing damage to the airport and what could be done to make it work efficiently.
They should have arrived 24 hours earlier...
Spoken like someone who honestly has no idea. First of all you do realize that we need to be invited first? Otherwise it is called an invasion. Another our efforts have to cleared and coordinated with the nation in question.
We need to coordinate with other nations bringing in aid.
Logistics are everything. One of the reasons New Orleans was a failed mission was the fact that New Orleans insisted on final say in every action. As a result people who didn't have a clue were calling the shots. Thus the mess.
Do you really want a free for all in Haiti?
Y'know, there was an earthquake there. The highways are wrecked! Perhaps the military ways don't work in earthquake relief.
I know. Not enough, not fast enough not right enough.
By the way do you know this from years of experience in the field? Or years of experience watching TV?
See Navy behind earth quake thread...
Katrina had NOTHING to do with President Bush and had EVERYTHING to do with PAPERWORK, FEMA not being organized, Good Ole' Mayor.... Ray "Chocolate City" Nagin.
Obama hasn't organized a thing he just gave the GO and look at the chaos over there because everyone wants to help and there is NO direction. It's not any better.
If one thing our people could learn from the Haitians, they are trying to help themselves, they are not whining in the streets for government HELP. Looks like if we give them what they need, little support and help they can do it on their own.
I understand tomorrow he will traipsing about Massachusetts ..... this will help Haiti how?
