I'm going to get a little bit philosophical... I think I'm one of the luckiest guys to have ever lived, and who knows, maybe to ever live, depending on the world's future. I was born in the United States in the middle of the 20th Century. That's being pretty darn lucky. I mean, I could have been born 2,000 years ago with a life expectancy of 35 years, or born in Pakistan or Tibet. But no, I was born in America. On top of that, I was born a healthy white male. In America, that's the top of the food chain. Minimal discrimination, maximum opportunity. To go even further, I was born into a reasonably comfortable middle class family and had a decent mother and father.
The one misfortune I have had is that I do not possess enough academic aptitude to take full advatage of my good luck. On the other hand, I'm wise enough to comprehend and appreciate the great good fortune I have had.
I would like to have lived in the 40's and 50's. Other than that, perhaps the early 1800's. Sadly, I would have died in childbirth had I lived back then.
I've been alive since the 50's and I think right now is pretty good
