On another thread in this forum a writer posted that the GOP bows down to big business. I dare to suggest that is a preceiption that is incorrect. Actually, it's the Democrats that pay homage to the big business interests. I suggest that you pay attention to whom big government bailed out. Who gets the big contracts, etc. Big Pharma and big insurance are getting bailed out by the Democrat's Healthcare bill. Big Unions, big, big and big.

The Republicans do support the greatest employer of American's. Odds are you work for one of them, a small business. Then the Democrats and big media sell you and poor people on how they are the friend of the little person. Which in fact, if I might suggest, you should look and see how much better off poor people of this nation are than they were 20 years ago.

No, my friend, the GOP doesn't bow down to big banks, big corps, or big unions, the GOP truly supports the commoners of the middle class.

It's clear that Republican populism is now in style. This is how Scott Brown won, and I don't blame Republicans for wanting to use this method.

Let the debates begin on who supports working-class Americans more - the Democrats or the Republicans. I'll look forward to hearing from both sides.

Actually, the both bow down to big business and lobbyist. Two sides of the same coin.

Hypothetical:

A small business thwarts (anyway imaginable) the interests of a big business. The big business goes to his congressman to gain help in removing the obstruction. Which will a Republican side with? A Democrat?

If you answered BOTH parties would side with the big business, you just earned yourself a cynical realist certificate. Congratulations!

Unfortunately, you are correct more often than incorrect. Bottom-line, lets blow up all the buildings in DC (except the Capitol, WH, & Supreme Court) and put the power of government back in the hands of the people. The more local government is, the better it typically is. Certainly not always, but the pendelum has certainly swung too far to the central power model rather than the federalist model.

IMHO - The Democrats may be rented by big business through the lobbyist and campaign contributions but the Republicans OWN these businesses, big and small, and vote for their own benefit. Republican Populism is an oxymoron. The controllers of the Republican Party have always been the financiers, industrialists, and oil importers. The Republicans are the heart and owners of the Military Industrial Congressional complex.

Workers and small businesses that support the Republican Party have been completely deluded into voting against their own self interest. The Republicans are very good at deluding people. They are very good at advertising and other forms of blatant deceit and lying.

The original post is not only wrong, it is utterly delusional.

The Republican Party is 100% in the pocket of big business.

Who created Medicare Part D as a giveaway to the drug companies, and prohibited the government from negotiating for lower prices? The Republicans.

Who refused to participate in the health care debate to protect the insurance companies? The Republicans.

Who has repeatedly cut taxes on the wealthy people who receive most of the capital gains in the country? The Republicans.

Who has been trying to abolish the estate tax on the ultra-rich? The Republicans.

Who voted almost with one voice on behalf of big business to prevent women from obtaining relief from discriminatory pay decisions? The Republicans.

Who is working to protect big industrial polluters from any meaningful regulation? The Republicans.

Any poor, working class, or middle class person who thinks the Republicans have any desire to protect the interests of anyone but the rich and the big corporations is a dupe.

Jack - but the Republicans will protect the "poor, working class or middle class" from pesky abortionists, gays, welfare queens, Medicare fraud, non-Kristians, and all the other irrelevancies.

Just guess the political party of the managers that take their businesses offshore to increase the owners, same party, and profits at the expense of everyone else.
