Regan understood how to really stimulate the economy not just throw money the Country doesn't have at the problem.
Actually, for the time, Reagan DID spend at a pretty unbelievable rate...

We owed money and he DID keep spending.

Do you mean like this, "In 1982 Reagan agreed to a tax increase with the proviso that Congress would pare $3 in spending for every $1 in new taxes. When all the dust had settled, it turned out that Congress actually increased spending--and the budgeti soared 63 percent between 1982 and 1985." from an article by by Buttarazzi, John E.

Ah, so Congress ended the Cold War with crazy defense spending?

Wonder why we credit Reagan?
