CNN confirmed that not a single stimulus dollar is being spent on the wine train itself. The stimulus money is really being used for a massive flood-control project for the valley. The train's tracks happen to be in the way, so they have to be moved. It is a simple fix, but it's not cheap.
So long as the money is spent to build something. The spending is more important then the thing. That is why they call it stimulus. IMHO moving a rail road track for a flood control project is a better use of the money than building another useless warplane.

That's nonsense. Why not give construction workers shovels to dig with instead of backhoes? How about teaspoons? That would definitely boost the economy by hiring more people.
I think i agree with you. I live here in Cali, and have friends who live in that area, i understood the money was for some sort of flood control damage problem, i thought, am i wrong. Is it a problem that i am not aware of. Let me know please. That is beautiful area.
What a BS thread title, I bet you didn't even read the article.
Your "bread and circuses" line doesn't apply here...unless you consider flood control to be a decadent handout.
