Maybe it depends on the area and the particular school rather than to just generalize the entire public school system. I have a problem with the way the services that are provided are not fully utilized where my children go to school. Sure the services are there, but even when I make a point to touch base with the teachers available, it can be weeks before they address my concern. I think that if most school operated that way, so many children would fall through the cracks. Yes, it is a parent's job to ensure their children are adapting well, but it is a partnership with the school system since the child is there 40 hours a week.

Well, kids aren't at school 40 hours per week, more like 30. One thing I've learned in the public school system is that you need to be your child's most vocal advocate. Request meetings with administration. Request IEP's. Talk to the teachers, principles, specialists, etc.

Could it be that what you are asking for is outside the realm of what the school is legally bound to offer? I still don't get what exactly it is you are trying to get that you are being denied of.
