Intelligence has already stated that there is evidence that people with almost zero traceable ties to terrorist groups are likely to attack. Likely, they are already here and just pretending to be one of us until the day the blow something up.
Going off to war halfway around the world will do nothing to fix this. The best thing we could have done LONG ago was to quit spending money, time and young soldier's lives in the barbaric parts of the middle east, and instead ramped up our border security and increased security measures as much as possible domestically. When we get hit again, I will lay that blame on both parties for failing to secure our borders and beef up our domestic security against imported and homegrown threats.
If an American citizen, decided to go to..., lets say China. Then, he decided to kill, lets say 6000 Chinese citizens, do you expect the Chinese government to declare war on the United States, because of the acts of one, insane citizen?

Am I missing something? This is not a valid comparison at all.
I heard we got some good info from the underwear bomber using lawful interrogation methods and several arrested as a result. For all we know, an attack has already been completely averted.

Why is it not a valid comparison? Terrorist acts have been conducted in our country by 1 or 2 people before, and it happens in other countries as well.
Its different when its like Afghanistan, where the countries Government was sponsoring terrorism. However, in a country like Yemen, where the government doesn't support it, why would we go to war with them?
You know, Tim McVeigh was born in New York, and we didn't go to war with New York for allowing a Terrorist to attack another American city, did we.
Terrorism is a police matter, not a military matter. You increase security, and you give police officers the tools they need to detect terrorists (which is very hard in a free country), and hope for the best.
The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots. To enjoy the freedom we hold so dear, sometimes, people die from insane individuals deem it so. They did not die in vane, they died for liberty, in my opinion.
The more we clamp down, the more countries we go to war with for stupid reasons, the more the terrorists get their goals achieved.
Remember, the war in Iraq was the best terrorist recruiting tool in the history of the world. Thats all we need, another stupid war.
the country of the terrorist or where the suspected is residing should willingly let the US in to find the terrorist, as well help the US in identifying their position, arresting them, and bringing them to justice
anything short of doing so, or providing adequete resources to assist would be considered aiding the terrorist, including being a state-sponsored terrorism
it's time to stop apologizing for being the greatest country on earth
